Try This Simple Move for Stress Relief

This is one of the most restorative yoga poses that can be performed as often as every day or whenever you feel the need to relax and revive yourself.

This is also a safe pose for pregnant women to help relieve swelling in the legs and feet. Avoid this pose if you have hypertension, glaucoma, or hernia.

The Legs-Up-the-Wall pose has many benefits, including:

  • Relieves stress and tension
  • Alleviates headache
  • Reduces knee pain
  • Reduces swelling in the legs and feet
  • Helps with neck and backache
  • It can help with menstrual cramps

How to practice:

  1. You can place a bolster, blanket, or pillow under your hips. You may also bend your knees if needed in this pose.
  2. Sit with your right side against the wall, with bent knees and your feet drawn in toward your hips.
  3. Bring your legs up against the wall as you turn to lie flat on your back.
  4. You may need to scoot closer to the wall to bring your sits bones as close as possible.
  5. You can stay in this pose for 10-15 minutes.
  6. To come out slowly, bring your legs back down and push yourself away from the wall.
  7. Stay lying on your side for a moment or two before slowly coming up.
